Carnival is evocative of many highs and lows. Rhythmically I wanted the backbone of the song to come across as strong / defined while juxtaposed by the consistent sauntering and swaying of the synths and strings, creating something of a sonic carousel. For me, this song highlights the bittersweet highs and lows of life in the modern world, a life that moves so fast that we don't even have time to stop and notice that we've become dizzy before we're staggering, lightheaded and confused. Up, down, round and round, only with no emergency exit.
